MODERN SLAVERY AND HUMAN TRAFFICKING STATEMENT
Financial Year 2025.
Introduction
Modern slavery is a heinous crime and a morally reprehensible act that deprives a person's liberty and dignity for another person's gain. It is a real problem for millions of people around the world, including many in developed countries.
At Pivotal Solutions Limited, we have a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and are fully committed to preventing slavery and human trafficking in our business operations. This statement sets out our actions to understand potential modern slavery risks and to implement steps to prevent slavery and human trafficking during the financial year 2024.
Our Business Structure and Operations
Pivotal Solutions Limited is a small software development company, all working from home. We provide software development and consulting services to our clients. As a small, home-based business with no physical premises or direct employees beyond the two directors, our operational structure presents minimal risk of modern slavery.
Our Supply Chain
As a software development company, our supply chain is limited and primarily consists of:
- Software licensing and digital services (cloud hosting, development tools, subscriptions)
- IT equipment suppliers for computers and related hardware
- Professional services (accounting, legal advice) as required
- Occasional freelance developers or consultants for specific projects
We establish relationships of trust and integrity with all our suppliers, selecting reputable companies that comply with applicable laws and regulations.
Risk Assessment
Given our business model, we have identified our modern slavery risk as very low because:
- We have a small number of employees
- We operate from home with no cleaning, security, or facilities staff
- Our supply chain consists primarily of established technology companies and professional service providers in low-risk sectors
- Any freelance developers we engage are skilled professionals operating in the UK
Despite this low risk, we remain vigilant and committed to ethical business practices.
Our Approach and Policies
As a small company, formal written policies are implemented through direct communication and mutual agreement. The directors are committed to:
- Ethical procurement - Only engaging with reputable suppliers and service providers
- Fair engagement - Ensuring any freelancers or contractors we work with are fairly compensated and working voluntarily
- Vigilance - Remaining alert to potential modern slavery risks in our business relationships
- Transparency - Being open about our business practices and commitments
Due Diligence
When engaging new suppliers or contractors, we:
- Verify they are legitimate businesses with proper registration
- Confirm fair payment terms and working conditions for any contractors
- Use established, reputable companies for our business needs where possible
- Would immediately cease working with any supplier if concerns about modern slavery arose
We have not been made aware of any allegations of human trafficking or slavery activities against any of our suppliers, but if we were, we would act immediately and report it to the authorities.
